Welcome to My Site

I am Beni Anvari — a fiber optic technician based in the Pacific Northwest and someone who spends most of his off-hours outside.

Two Worlds, One Site

This site exists because I have two things I want to write about and no good reason to keep them separate.

The technical side: I have spent the last several years working as a fiber optic technician, most recently with Ziply Fiber. I splice fiber, pull conduit, troubleshoot FTTH drops, and spend a lot of time in the field. The work is skilled, physically demanding, and genuinely interesting. I want to document what it actually looks like from the inside — not the sanitized marketing version.

The adventure side: On weekends I am usually on a motorcycle, a downhill mountain bike, or on foot somewhere in the Cascades or the Olympics. The PNW is an embarrassingly good place to be an outdoor person, and I have been taking advantage of that for years.

What to Expect

Adventures — motorcycle routes, downhill MTB trails, hiking and camping in the backcountry. Honest accounts, real gear recommendations, no sponsored fluff.

Field Notes — fiber tech from the ground level. What the job involves, technical breakdowns, career thoughts, and whatever else feels worth writing down.

A Bit More Background

I started my career doing auto detailing (ran my own small operation, GlossWerkes, back in 2011), moved into telecom tech work with ITC Service Group, and have been with Ziply Fiber since 2022. The transition into fiber felt natural — it is precision work that requires problem-solving in the field, which suits me.

The outdoor stuff has been a constant throughout. Growing up in the Northwest means you either embrace the outdoors or spend a lot of time indoors being disappointed by the weather. I chose the first option.

Thanks for being here. New posts will show up in the Adventures and Field Notes sections as I write them.
